Abstract
Electrochromic smart windows enable dynamic regulation of solar transmission, but their practical application is still limited by switching kinetics and cycling stability. A poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide) (PDMA) gel polymer electrolyte (GPE) is developed via in situ polymerization within an electrochromic device. The optimized PDMA electrolyte exhibits a high room-temperature ionic conductivity of 7.2 × 10-2 S cm-1, enabling efficient ion transport and favorable electrolyte/electrode interfacial contact.
A electrochromic device based on Prussian blue (PB), PDMA GPE and WO3·xH2O is constructed, exhibiting a large optical modulation of 74.0% at 658 nm, rapid coloration/bleaching, and a solar modulation of 52.4% in 300–1100 nm. The device retains 96.1% of its initial optical modulation after 34,000 cycles, demonstrating excellent cycling stability. These results highlight PDMA GPEs as an effective electrolyte for durable quasi-solid-state electrochromic smart windows.
