Abstract
Multifunctional devices that store charge while modulating color are attractive for selfpowered, information-bearing displays [1,2], yet how electrochromic switching couples to faradaic storage remains poorly understood. Here we report a zinc-based electrochromic energy storage device (Zn-EESD) built from an electrospun, metal-oxide nanofiber network bearing a covalently anchored, redox-active viologen as the working electrode, paired with a Prussianblue-analog counter electrode, a metallic zinc anode, and a quasi-solid electrolyte. The full stack is processed on a flexible substrate, integrating color modulation and charge storage in a single monolithic architecture. The multipixel shows reversible color switching with stable galvanostatic cycling, demonstrating that electrochromic and energy-storage functions can be rationally co-designed. The electrochemical, spectroscopic, and structural characterization is fully presented. The current Zn-EESDs offer a route toward self-powered smart displays, adaptive camouflage, and multifunctional electro-optic energy devices
