Abstract
Color change is a magical feature of natural life systems, such as the evolution of creatures like chameleons and octopuses, which utilize dynamic color changes to achieve adaptive camouflage, hiding, and alarm functions. Imitating this biological function and developing wide-spectrum manipulation technologies is of great significance for industrial community, daily life, and other fields. However, toward the growing demand for emerging applications in the low-carbon and Internet of Things economy, both color diversity and multi-band functionality of available chromic materials are still far from satisfactory. In our work, by combining sub-wavelength structure with traditional chromic materials such as WO3, a significantly expanded color varieties and independent control over multi-bands can be simultaneously achieved. On the basis of innovation in chromic materials, new devices, and advanced applications have been explored.
